Piwik is a downloadable, open source (GPL licensed) web analytics software program. It provides you with detailed reports on your website visitors: the search engines and keywords they used, the language they speak, your popular pages… and so much more.
Piwik is a very good alternative to other website tracking and counter programs as it is self hosted and maintained. As well as the table and data is also collected in one’s own database.
Piwik requires PHP 5.0 and MySQL to function. The tables and graphs are created as Flash (.swf) files.
CMS.txt is a free, open-source, 6kb content management system which allows you to easily manage web pages. CMS.txt presently boasts a simple theme and templating system which can also be used to implement color schemes. Currently, CMS.txt fully supports PHP and HTML files with the ability to use <!– COMMENT TAGS –> for additional functionality.
CMS.txt is a very small content management which can be used to create simple websites and the maintenance procedure is fairly simple once the site is setup. The PHP file in the CMS draws site contents from a simple text file named CMS.txt placed on the server. This file can be edited for changing the content of the site.
The CMS package comes with 8 preloaded themes, which can be used for building a simple, compact and clean web layout. Other themes can also be developed as per the requirement.
CMS.txt runs on PHP and does not require MySQL or any other technology.
Wibiya is a website application offering custom user built web toolbars for putting up on websites and blogs. It enhances the beauty and design of the blog and can also be used just for the sake of easing out the reader’s experience on the blog.
Wibiya enables blogs to integrate the most exciting services, applications and widgets of their choice into their blog through customized web-based toolbars. Our platform offers a one-stop solution for integrating, managing and tracking third-party applications.
But, as every rose has thorns. Wibiya too has both pros and cons. The first setback being that Wibiya does not allow direct user registration. You have to firstly apply for a invite to its private Beta mode. Done that, after sometime, it automatically mails you with an invite.
Another setback with Wibiya is that it comes as a plugin for Wordpress, which has to be uploaded, activated and then works. This is not the problem. The actual problem is that the plugin queries the Wibiya’s website for displaying the toolbar on the client’s browser which takes some what longer than it would have taken on the blog’s server itself. Pondering over this. It struck to me that even this has an advantage. It helps to save on valuable bandwidth which is helpful in cases with limited bandwidth web hosts.
Wordpress is all about cool customizations to tackle your needs.
Extending this idea, here I am posting on how to customize your admin panel and login screen.
I tried my best to make this post the simplest way to customizing your Wordpress experience.
First of all, download the login.css, wp-login.php and colors-fresh.css files to your computer from the Wordpress directory in your blog.
Edit login.css for changing the color of the login form and the displayed logo.
Edit colors-fresh.css for changing the whole look of your admin panel (on every page.)
And, edit wp-login.php for changing the links from the logo and the displayed text, along with the login form.
There it is. You wanted more? Perhaps its the Wordpress’ famous 5 minute customization!

Laconica is a Free and Open Source Self Hosted replacement to Twitter and other microblogging tools and services. Many of Laconica eye catching features include Twitter compatibility and Facebook integration. It also features OpenID support and posts messages to other microblogging services as well. One of its useful functions include an automatic URL shortening service.
It is the same platform behind Identi.ca, the microblogging client hosted by the creators of Laconica (Pretty much a Wordpress story!).
There are many ways to memorize ?, including the use of Piems (a portmanteau, formed by combining pi and poem), which are poems that represent ? in a way such that the length of each word (in letters) represents a digit. Here is an example of a Piem: How I need a drink, alcoholic of course [or, in nature] after the heavy lectures involving quantum mechanics. Notice how the first word has 3 letters, the second word has 1, the third has 4, the fourth has 1, the fifth has 5, and so on.
Amazing ! Isn’t it?
I composed a Piem all by myself. Here it is for you reference.
Its a trap, a witty recurring,
of hidden depth and maths.
Thousand scholarly attacks,
Uselessly, all to end thinking.
Enso is a human interface designed to enable the user to perform various actions in computing just by typing it out. It has been built by Humanized Inc. founded by Aza Raskin. The software is freeware and installs as a service on port 7070. It has a lot to offer for developers and users alike.
It works as easy as 1 2 3. When you press a particular key (that you can assign to it), a translucent box appears and you can then type into it. Suggestions for the possible commands appear alongside. The commands are carried out as soon as you release the key. If your typing skills are polished then this all happens in a flash!
Having to change programs to perform simple tasks—for example, making a quick calculation, or looking up a definition—breaks your concentration, takes you away from the task at hand, and wastes your valuable time. Enso lets you do common computing tasks easier and faster than ever before. You get a huge productivity boost and a simpler digital life.
This easter egg in Firefox 3 can be found by typing out “about:robots” in the address bar.
It is unusual and weird but fun too.
