Piwik is a downloadable, open source (GPL licensed) web analytics software program. It provides you with detailed reports on your website visitors: the search engines and keywords they used, the language they speak, your popular pages… and so much more.
Piwik is a very good alternative to other website tracking and counter programs as it is self hosted and maintained. As well as the table and data is also collected in one’s own database.
Piwik requires PHP 5.0 and MySQL to function. The tables and graphs are created as Flash (.swf) files.
Vanilla is an open-source, standards-compliant, multi-lingual, fully extensible discussion forum for the web. Anyone who has web-space that meets the requirements can download and use Vanilla for free!
Vanilla runs on MySQL and PHP. It is a very weight (386 KB only!) and compact yet powerful forum creating and managing platform. It is easy to use and maintain once installed.
Its features include RSS 2.0/ATOM feeds of Discussions, Categories and the whole forum. It has an inbuilt WYSIWYG editor for comments and discussions. Various different add-ons and themes are also available for it.
I am introducing a new feature in my website called ‘Anunay’s Chat‘ where the visitors can chat with me whenever I am available online. This feature is a crude AJAX and JQuery based chat interface. It saves the chat logs as a (X)HTML file that can be deleted. It runs on PHP and does not require MySQL to function.
The styling of the chat interface is done by CSS. The files needed for the system are very compact and it fits into about 7 KB. The source is attached at the bottom of the article. (I love Open Source.)
Ordinatrix Ordin@trix 2009 was a Disgrace. As u all may be knowing, it was a so called Creative IT Symposium held today, 22.7.09 at Tagore Intl School, Vasant Vihar.
Let me start with the inaugral ceremony,
A. They started off half-an-hour late
B. Their Intro Video was shit
C. They have this so-called speech gal, who is an over-excited despo. I mean, she starts dancing every now and then, and there’s no end to her over-excitement. Her speech was shit. BTW, shes been giving that speech for 2 years now.
Now, their events :
A. Animatrix :
Schools had turned up with animations made using pictures and characters obtained frm the web. Being frank, ours was the onli animation which was made from scratch. And the so called judges, said that they were focusing on originality. Oh really, then it is just impossible to understand how Delhi Public School, RK Puram turned up 1st, as their anim. was copied from here and there. Hey, No Offence to DPS RKP! I respect them for everything they do, but i just have a humble feeling that they did not deserve 1st today.
B. Movieatrix :
Again, majority of the schools had videos copied from various sources, youtube etc etc, and we, in loving memory of our brother Akul Sareen, had paid a tribute to him in the form of a video for ordinatrix that was unmatchable. I m not saying it was the best, but it was surely one of the best. Damn, So much effort we had put into that video. May your soul R.I.P. Akul. These TIS VV People dont have any respect for a guy who’s expired.
C. Codeatrix, Turtleatrix, Palleteatrix :
I really cant say nything about these events, bcoz i havent watched these myself. Anyway, our skul had won the 3rd prize in each of the events. So i have nothing to say about these.
Now, Some things that i really fail to understand :
1. How do TIS VV and TIS EOK win a prize in each event every year? These TIS people dont even have the dignity for not taking the trophies and certificates for their positions. I mean, u can participate, but u cant take the trophies for urself. Thats just not good.
2.I think other schools start underperforing every year at Ordinatrix (read sarcasm). Probably it would not have been so if the TIS schools wont have taken all the trophies on their own.
3. What problem do these TIS people have if people are toking on their mobiles or for that matter, even toking to each other in the audi?
Every two minutes, a person came to us to tell us : “Please Keep Quiet”. I got so irritated.
I was indeed disappointed when to much of our sorrow, all the hard work did not pay off. I just think that the judges did not even have the foggiest notion of who Lionel Messi is or what on Earth FC Barcelona is.
And, how the hell can you give away prizes to the entries directly downloaded from Youtube et al when you boast of an entirely creative event with the judge yelling about ‘Origanality’ !
This is what we made : (I and Sopan. From scratch), Just Adobe Flash CS3 and Pivot Stickfigure Animator.
CMS.txt is a free, open-source, 6kb content management system which allows you to easily manage web pages. CMS.txt presently boasts a simple theme and templating system which can also be used to implement color schemes. Currently, CMS.txt fully supports PHP and HTML files with the ability to use <!– COMMENT TAGS –> for additional functionality.

The PHP file in the CMS draws site contents from a simple text file named CMS.txt placed on the server. This file can be edited for changing the content of the site.
The CMS package comes with 8 preloaded themes, which can be used for building a simple, compact and clean web layout. Other themes can also be developed as per the requirement.
CMS.txt runs on PHP and does not require MySQL or any other technology.
Wibiya is a website application offering custom user built web toolbars for putting up on websites and blogs. It enhances the beauty and design of the blog and can also be used just for the sake of easing out the reader’s experience on the blog.
Wibiya enables blogs to integrate the most exciting services, applications and widgets of their choice into their blog through customized web-based toolbars. Our platform offers a one-stop solution for integrating, managing and tracking third-party applications.
But, as every rose has thorns. Wibiya too has both pros and cons. The first setback being that Wibiya does not allow direct user registration. You have to firstly apply for a invite to its private Beta mode. Done that, after sometime, it automatically mails you with an invite.
Another setback with Wibiya is that it comes as a plugin for Wordpress, which has to be uploaded, activated and then works. This is not the problem. The actual problem is that the plugin queries the Wibiya’s website for displaying the toolbar on the client’s browser which takes some what longer than it would have taken on the blog’s server itself. Pondering over this. It struck to me that even this has an advantage. It helps to save on valuable bandwidth which is helpful in cases with limited bandwidth web hosts.
